What is your coaching philosophy?
A.
My coaching philosophy focuses on several aspects 1) positive team development; 2) positive player experiences; 3) creating the "just right" challenge; 4) enhancing understanding of the game by guiding team conversations that focus on the teams self-identification of their strengths and areas for improvement; 5) allowing each player to be creative and have fun; 6) fostering an environment that focuses on learning from previous experiences and improving upon them; 7) guide player and team development by focusing on the power of "yet"... "I can't juggle...yet". 8) Whether you win or you lose, you learn.

Where we grew up in England, there were no girls teams and children couldn't play on a team until they were eight! When we moved to Hudson, I began playing recreational soccer and I played for the Lady Explorers in high school. Through college and my adult life, I have played intermittently on co-ed adult leagues. I was a referee during high school.

A.
I have coached and assisted coached for a total of 5 years. This is my first year coaching my own team for Hudson United.
Q.
What is your coaching philosophy?
A.
I believe that constant feedback to the players in a positive tone will keep their interest in the game at a high level. I like to create an atmosphere where the players can learn from myself and others around them, while mastering the fundamentals of the game. Gameplay should focus on possession and playing through the defense. I encourage players to get as much exposure to soccer as possible, and if allowed, watch professional players on TV or YouTube.
Q.

A.
My favorite color is gray. Yes, I know it is boring, yet practical.

I guess I am pretty unorthodox in the way I coach, in that I adapt my style to the age group I am working with, using influences from England and what I have learned in the US soccer system. My ultimate goal is to create a team environment, allowing players to express themselves in field positions they enjoy and as a consequence have fun along the way. I do expect that the player respects their parents, the officials, the club and the opportunity that their parents have given them - this will always be a core value of mine.

My coaching philosophies roots from what my coaches have taught me. 1) The importance of teamwork. Win or lose, you do it as a team. 2) Next play attitude; if you lose the ball, work to get it back. 3) Communication is the key to success, whether it on or off the soccer field. Being able to communicate to a teammate, coach, parent, or ref respectfully will help you and your team become more successful. 4) Individual development, prepping on and off the field. “Hydrate the Temple” Your body is a temple, fuel it so you can perform at your best.
