Recreational Program

The Hudson United Recreational soccer program is comprised of kids, teens and adults that live in Hudson and surrounding communities. This program is for the soccer player that wants to have fun, make new friends and keep fit. There are no tryouts for recreational soccer. Players are placed on teams according to their age for developmental soccer and their grade for the youth and teen leagues. There are four 7 week sessions available starting the end of August and ending the end of April. Many players choose to participate in all 4 sessions. The first session is played outdoors at Barlow Farm Park in Hudson starting in late August. The other 3 sessions are played indoors at NC Soccer in Hudson between late October and late April. All games are played once a week on Saturdays. Game times are based on the number of teams that register for each session. The program is divided into the following groups:

Developmental Soccer

The Developmental Program is designed to introduce kids to soccer in a fun, safe and educational environment. There are 3 divisions based on age:

Start2Kick (S2K) is designed for players that are 3-4 years old, accompanied by a parent or guardian. The classes are 30 minutes long on Saturdays. Lead by a professional coach.

Learn2Play for Preschool (L2P) is designed for players that are preschool ages 4-5. Training sessions are 60 minutes lead by a professional coach assisted by teen coaches. Parent volunteers help to run the small sided games.

Learn2Play for Kindergarten (L2P) is designed for players that are in Kindergarten ages 5-6. Training sessions are 60 minutes lead by a professional coach assisted by teen coaches. Parent volunteers help to run the small sided games.

Youth/Teen Leagues

The Youth/Teen players are not required to tryout and every player will play at least 50 percent of all games. The coaches are parent volunteers that lead their team through a short warm-up/practice and then a game against another team. During the Fall Outdoor Session at Barlow Farm Park, the warm-up/practice and game last 90 minutes. During the Indoor Sessions at NC Soccer, the warm-up/practice and game last 60 minutes. The coaches during the Fall Session may offer additional practices during the week. Certified teen referees oversee the youth games. Certified adult referees oversee the high school games.

The Youth/Teen teams are divided into the following groups by grade:

  • 1st grade Boys
  • 1st grade Girls
  • 2nd and 3rd grade Boys
  • 2nd and 3rd grade Girls
  • 4th and 5th grade Boys
  • 4th and 5th grade Girls
  • 6th-8th grade Coed
  • 9th-12th grade Coed

Spring Development Program

The Spring Development program is intended for recreational players going into 1st-4th grade that are looking to try out for the Hudson United Travel program in late May. It is led by our professional travel coaches for several weeks in April and May with an emphasis on individual foot skills, passing, shooting and basic tactics.

This program is for players aged 4-25 with physical and/or mental disabilities. It is geared toward player development rather than competition. Soccer4All is open to any child with a developmental delay or disability including but not limited to: A.D.D., Autism, Hearing Impaired, Sight Impaired, Cerebral Palsy, Traumatic Brain Injury, Cystic Fibrosis, Down’s syndrome, Multiple Sclerosis, Muscular Dystrophy, Seizure Disorder and Spinal Bifida. Players do not need to be Hudson residents.

There are two Soccer4All sessions each year. The spring session runs from late April through early June. The fall session runs early September through October. Games are played Saturday mornings or afternoons at Barlow Farm Park in Hudson.

Adult Leagues

Men’s League-35 and older

Women’s League- 21 and older

Founded in January 2007 with a motto, “We have mom things to do as soon as the game is over,” the Hudson United Women’s League is all about fun and friendship along with an awesome aerobic workout!

Soccer took off in the United States as a women’s sport in high schools and colleges in the 1980s, and many of the women who were part of this trend now live in and around Hudson. And now Hudson women have a league of their own.

The Women’s League plays on Saturday mornings. We welcome players of all ages and skill levels and currently have players in their 20’s, their 30’s, their 40’s and in their 50’s!

If you are interested in playing or need more information, please contact Maria Krause at

There is quite a bit of work that goes into organizing teams for each recreational soccer session.  For that reason, please be aware that if your child is unable to attend a session after you have registered them, we will provide a credit in the amount that you paid, minus any late fees, toward a future Hudson United program for anyone in your family.  This credit will not have an expiration date.  Exceptions for illness and injury will always be considered.  Thank you for your understanding.

Is your child planning to try out for the Middle School or High School soccer team?  If so, per OHSAA rules, they are NOT ALLOWED to participate in Travel or Recreational soccer during their school season. Middle School and High School sports other than soccer are allowed.

They should not sign up for Recreational Soccer until after Tryouts are complete, AND if they did not make the team.

Travel tryouts are usually held after the Recreational Soccer registration deadline. Registration will remain open for players grades 7-12 that did not make their school team without a late fee.

All Indoor Recreational Soccer sessions can be played by kids on the school soccer teams, as their season will be over by that time.
